For one, the Vatican's reply to his petition to marry the sixth-grade teacher at St. Elizabeth's was downright hostile. Also, he has been receiving threatening emails similar to ones received by a murdered priest. Is Frank next?
And what about those cosmic ray tracks in the cloud chambers in his lab? They are just too numerous to be explained by the laws of physics. Are they of supernatural origin? At least the Vatican thinks so and may be willing to make an unprecedented concession to stop Frank's experiments.
