A Journey to Ellamar, Alaska

An adventurous journey to Ellamar, Alaska. Ellamar, only accessible by boat or seaplane, is across the way from Bligh and Busby Islands in Valdez-Cordova County, approximately 20 mi (32 km) southwest of Valdez. The Alaska native coastal villages of Chenega and Tatitlek are nearby. Ellamar used to be an old copper mining area and evidence of early-1900s wood construction and equipment is scattered throughout the locale. Ellamar used to be a fish cannery site as well.
