2014 marks 150 years since Sand Creek. Let us never forget.
A modern visit to the National Historic site of The Sand Creek Massacre (also known as the Chivington massacre or the Battle of Sand Creek or the Massacre of Cheyenne Indians). The Sand Creek Massacre was an incident in the Indian Wars of the United States that occurred on November 29, 1864. Colorado Territory militia attacked and destroyed a village of Cheyenne and Arapaho encamped in southeastern Colorado Territory. Many Cheyenne and Arapaho men, women, and children were killed at Sand Creek. More than 700 soldiers were involved.
It is a sacred place. Hallowed ground. Narrative and photographs.
