Velda: Girl Detective

This is the story of detective Velda Bellinghausen and how she became embroiled in the strangest and most dangerous case of her career. An ex-stripper working in a noir Greenwich Village of the early 50s, a place of beatniks and bongos, pinup artists and cheap hoods, Velda finds that not only is her brand-new career on the line, but the life of a troubled teenage girl as well...a girl who has confessed to a murder only Velda knows she didn't commit.

Velda is also the subject of a series of comic books as well as radio plays broadcast nationally through NPR stations.
