The Bible (According To Jack) Part I The Old Testament is a Bible for doubters, skeptics, cynics, gays, lesbians, feminists and anyone else who believes (or simply wants to leave open the possibility of belief) in a loving, compassionate, inclusive deity who could not possibly have written or inspired many of the negative, narrowminded and just plain wrong laws, rules and pronouncements contained in the Old Testament. The Old Testament contains many myths and legends which were never intended to be understood as the literal or irrevocable word of God. Its stories were written by men (and possibly a few women, but apparently not many, and they probably had to be sneaky about it) who were trying to define their god and to differentiate that "god" from their neighbor's "gods" who were constantly trying to defeat, subjugate, exile and annihilate the ancient Jews. Jack's Bible conclusively demonstrates that the Old Testament's actual original authors had a wonderful sense of humor. Somewhere along the line, the old men who have always seemed to be running things took out the laugh track. They had no right or scriptural basis to do so. Jack has endeavored to put it back. Fortunately, Jack is not encumbered with degrees in theology, ancient languages or any other "ologies" which would diminish your reading experience by boring the crap out of you. Read with an open mind and heart and learn what God really meant to tell you while laughing yourself silly.
