Jill

A slice of life taken from actual events that takes you through the life and times of a young American Midwest couple who fall in love at first sight as kids in the 1960’s and make life’s treacherous journey together. Jill obtained her strong personality from her father, Gayle. She went off to play with the neighbor children despite being told no, dragging her sister Jan along. After accidently hitting Jan in the head with a baseball bat, she ran home for help and although Jan was not badly injured Jill took her two weeks of house confinement. Gayle was no angel either; his youth spent fighting and learning to take care of himself. Bill first saw Jill in church at fourteen years of age, and the moment he saw her he declared he would someday take her for his wife. He began his quest immediately and throughout their youth he pursued her, at last earning her love. They were married at age twenty-one with no job but Bill had a college degree to boost their chances. Life was good, a job and a move to Columbus, Ohio followed, and after much trial and tribulation they adopted a son, three days old and named after Bill. Will became the center of their life, with neighbors and their children becoming an extended family. Bill entertained the neighborhood, his famous neighborhood fireworks display attracting quite a crowd for an illegal Fourth of July treat. When a rocket went through the front window of the one neighbor who was against the fireworks, traveling through the house, exiting a rear window, and then landing in their back yard, which started their summer dry lawn on fire, Jill quietly ended Bill’s annual display. Theirs was an ideal life, full of fun, sprinkled with tears when Will went off to college and with fear when he broke his arm while attending graduate school in New York. A frantic trip followed by surgery later, eventually their precious son healed and earned his MBA. Nothing could stop them, the cares of the world forced out when they were together.
