In Baby Weight what begins as a monthly meeting of new mothers with a few extra pounds to lose develops into an unintended support group for unlikely friends. The women uncover deeper issues as the meetings unfold and help each other confront their personal challenges. There’s Donna, the group’s leader raising her son without much support from her distant husband; Sam, an outrageous sportswriter who travels more than her stay-at-home husband would like; Cara, a gay mother, struggling with post partum blues; and Maggi trying to stay connected to her estranged college-bound daughter.
