THE EXECUTION OF JUSTICE is based on the true story of the murder of a revered Detective Sergeant in the Robbery & Homicide Division of the Indianapolis Police Department. Detective Sergeant Jack Lovell and his newly promoted partner, Detective Mike Walsh are tracking a gang of armed robbery suspects. With each crime, the gang becomes more violent. The detectives track the gang from February to December when they finally get hot tips of the identities and locations of the gang members. Sergeant Lovell assembles his team of detectives and several uniformed patrol officers for back-up to execute simultaneous raids on three residential locations where the gang members are reported to be hiding. In the pre-dawn hours, the raids are executed. In one resident, thirteen members are taken into custody without incident. At the second location, police find it empty. At the third location, where Sergeant Lovell is leading the team, something goes horribly wrong. Sergeant Lovell attempts to kick-in the door and was met with a hail of gundfire. He falls to the frozen concrete porch as he yells into his police radio; "OH GOD . . . I'M HIT ... GET HELP!"

As Sergeant Lovell's body lies on the porch, the suspects engage the police in a gun battle that rages for two and one half hours. When it ends, one gunman is critically wounded, five more gang members surrender, and Sergeant Jack Lovell is dead.

Detective Mike Walsh is devastated. His wife leaves him, not able to take the pressure of being a cop's wife. He turns to booze to drown his misseries, as his thoughts turn to suicide. Can Mike Walsh survive?
