The Official Compendium Of Inner City Street Games is designed to provide a documented record and description of rules and play of the many games that were ( and may continue to be ) played in the streets of the inner cities of the US as experienced by the authors who were born in New York City in the 1940’s and were fortunate to have played these games during their childhood and early teen years. The rules of the games would vary among cities and even among neighborhoods within a city. What is presented here is a synthesis of the more commonly recognized games and general rules that applied on a broadly consistent basis. In some cases the names of the games are spelled phonetically in the absence of an authority of consensus.
