The Two Gentlemen of Verona

Valentine is preparing to leave Verona to visit Milan so as to broaden his horizons. He begs his best friend, Proteus, to come with him, but Proteus is in love with a girl named Julia, and refuses to leave. Valentine bids Proteus farewell and goes on alone. Meanwhile, Proteus' father, Antonio, has decided that like Valentine, Proteus should also travel, and has thus decided to send him to Milan to join Valentine.
