The Oyster Wars

Immediately following the American Civil War, oystermen fought to the death over rich oyster beds in the Chesapeake Bay. It was a time in our history when young men were shanghaiied from Baltimore waterfronts and taken to Maryland's Eastern shore where they were forced into slave labor for ruthless boat captains.
