“The Treasure Hunt” is the initial book of three already completed my humorous juvenile mystery novels, in a series I’ve written entitled COOCHIE MALOO MYSTERIES. The fourth is in progress.
Volume 1, “The Treasure Hunt” is a humorous adventure mystery story and geared somewhat for boys; however, I believe it will interest and amuse all ages and even the most reluctant readers. Additionally, one key character, brilliant and spunky LISA WEBBER, will inspire all girls, as she stands toe-to-toe with Coochie in the story’s progress.
This story can stand alone; however, I’m writing this as a series. Volume Two, “The Train Robberies”, and Volume Three, “The Missing Lake ”, are each about 30,000 words. Book four will be the same when completed.
In this first volume, COOCHIE MALOO, a blustery young gold prospector and has been searching unsuccessfully two years for a lost gold treasure in the desert. Along the way, he befriends Willi, an invisible creature which he calls a “Murph”, which performs humorous and extraordinary feats. They become sidekicks.
Having left the small one-room school house at age twelve and due to the abuse he receives, his unusual appearance (he early-on grew huge bushy eyebrows), and still rough around the edges, Coochie decides to go looking for the famed Mexican gold treasure, hidden somewhere in the desert hills. He also discovers he can make money and gain respect by capturing thieves and rotten villains.
Coochie recruits three other main characters, brilliant cosmologist LISA WEBBER (age thirteen), scientific genius and inventor HOW NOW (fourteen) and eternally pessimistic psychic BILLY BIGELOW (thirteen). As a team, they embark on a series of fast-paced events leading to the capture of a notorious gang of thieves.
At the end, Coochie and his team gain both reward in money and spirit.
