Secret of Leadership - Insights From The Panchtantra
by Luis S.R. Vas & Anita S.R. Vas
The Panchatantra is a work relevant for all times, whether it is used in a Management Workshop or as a general guide to daily living.
Leadership is involved in both.
Through a jungle of speaking animals, a sage, Vishnu Sharma, created a storehouse of wisdom in the form of short stories for children as well as adults.
These stories, written some 2,000 years ago, came to be known as Panchatantra.
The influence of Vishnu Sharma’s stories has been vast. By the 3rd and 4th centuries, they had already been translated into Syriac and Arabic from the original Sanskrit version.
The Panchatantra has been translated into 50 different languages in some 200 different versions.
In this collection, the authors have tried to show what bearing these fables have on our leadership skills.
They have highlighted some of the morals embedded in the fables themselves as well as provided modern insights at the end of each story.
They have also occasionally provided relevant observations. Readers are encouraged to draw their own insights from these classic tales of wisdom.
In the conclusion, the authors have stated the five leadership secrets of the Panchatantra as revealed in the five tantras and combined them with a typical modern management plan designed to bring the readers’ newly-learnt leadership skills to fruition.
