Over the years, many organizations have begun audio book production programs. Some have been successful, some have not advanced beyond the novice level, and some have failed completely. The diverse skills and technologies necessary to achieve high levels of artistic and technical quality in audio
book production are called audio book art and science. Many elements, such as good staff, equipment, and facilities, are important in determining quality of the final product; but the most important is how well the principles of audio book art and science are understood and applied.
