A Texas Elegy

Time to sound an elegy for the old time cowboy life in Texas. Time to give a tip of the hat to those who know that progress in any industry is inevitable and maybe even desirable, but who place a lot of value on a way of life that is being inexorably displace by the methods and new technology. This story is that of a small crowd of cowboys who try to hang on to a lifestyle that is slipping away from them. They fail, of course, but it was a grand fight. Doug Marshall, who came from Indiana to Texas as a young lad to become a cowboy, has adjusted to life after cowboying, but sometimes it's harder than usual.
