Quiet, Good Neighbor contains one of the most horrific examples of a low-level nuclear explosion in America ever written. A family moves into the house across the street. A man, a woman and a boy. They are mid-eastern. The old man who lives across the street befriends them and tries to teach the boy how to fish and play catch. Both families become good friends. But the old man doesn’t know that a suitcase nuke is hidden in the backyard of the good neighbor’s backyard under a rose bush. The boy is sent by his father on a suicide mission with the nuke in his backpack. The boy goes to the nearby mall on the day after Thanksgiving.
