What is a man's integrity worth?

Daniel Knott, a quiet bookkeeper working for the town's prominent banker, Amos Burch, one day witnesses something he wishes he never saw. He hoped the matter would go away, but it didn't. Knott finds himself a witness in a divorce case, and all he has to do is lie to protect his own reputation, his family, his job, and his liberty. Will he do so? The dilemma plunges him into a dark night of the soul, in which he questions who he is, what he believes, and whether his own sense of honor is worth the price he must pay.
