O'Toole's Irregulars (A Neighborhood Bar Mystery)

An inept young private detective is trying to track down a missing heir at O'Toole's bar in Washington, DC, and his questions are making the regulars nervous. When he turns up dead, his boss lady teams up with O'Toole's manager Maggie Clemons to investigate the connections between his murder and the death of a waitress 20 years before. With the help of some of her quirkier regulars and even her best friend Rosa, who was recently killed by a bus, Maggie unearths a web of deceptions that seem to tie together both friends and enemies. When one of O'Toole's own is found dead behind the building, and someone close to Maggie is kidnappeded, it becomes clear that the answer is right there at O'Toole's. Ignoring the warnings of a vice captain from her questionable past, Maggie knows she's getting close to the solution but doesn't suspect that her own life might be in danger from a regular with a hidden agenda.
