The First Men in the Moon

In this commentary on society, human nature, and imperialism, H. G. Wells gives a glimpse of the optimism of his day. Progress was the order of the day. Future decades would put the lie to this, but the civilization that Wells portrays secretly existing on the moon still highlights humanity's aspirations- and flaws.
