The 13th Man was originally written before and after hurricane Katrina and published in New Orleans, it went on to become one of the best selling local works at the Maple Street Bookstore, one of New Orleans' finest book stores. The work was well regarded because of Mr. Berger's years working at Commander's Palace, one of New Orleans' most famous restaurants. While the restaurant in the story has no moniker, fans of The 13th Man always pictured its band of rowdy waiters carousing in the kitchens and dining rooms of Commander's Palace.
