The Bostonians, a novel by Henry James. A bittersweet tragic comedy centering on a strange triangle of characters. Basil Ransom, a political conservative from Mississippi: Olive Chancellor, Ransom's cousin-a feminist from Boston, Verena Tarrant-Olive's young protegee during the feminist movement. The storyline is about the struggles between Olive and Ransom for Verena's affection and allegiance. The novel includes a host of political activists,quirky eccentrics and newspaper people.
