The Journey Begins

Brad, a US Navy SEAL stationed in Djibouti, wakes up one morning to find everyone else on the base dead. Everyone. He gets on the radio and cannot contact anyone anywhere. All he hears are a few automated distress calls. Brad takes care of his dead and readies himself for a trip. He wants to go home. Home is all the way across North Africa and the Atlantic Ocean, in Jacksonville, Florida. Since he's not a pilot and cannot swim across the Atlantic he has to find another way home. He takes an Armed, Computerized Patrol Boat and heads north from Djibouti up the coast and around India, across to Burma and down the Siamese Peninsula back up the other side past Vietnam, China and Russia to the Bearing Straits. There it is only sixty miles across the Straits to Alaska where he follows the coast down to Washington. There he gets another vehicle and starts across country to Jacksonville. While on his journey, Brad finds out that not everyone is dead. Roughly ten percent of the world's population is still alive. Some are good, some are bad. With all the world's weapons laying around for anyone to pick up and no law enforcement of any kind left, the bad guys are in charge. Women and children become currency.Life is worth less than nothing. Brad picks up a crew from people he rescues from desperate situations and heads for home. He believes there is a good chance his grandfather and others in his family are alive. He wants to find them if possible. However, the trip will take a lot longer than he planned.
