Insidious Heart

Teej and Lowanda have a problem: he's white and she's black. Their fathers are both prejudiced, and for very different reasons. In their heyday, the two men would go to great lengths to prevent the relationship from continuing a day further.

When Teej reveals his dating intentions to his father, his father explodes and predictably condemns the arrangement. But Teej has discovered a dark secret about his father, the mayor of the town he lives in, that can never be revealed. His father begins to conceal the secret, while trying to prevent his son from dating a black woman. His hatred towards blacks is palpable.

After being mugged in Chicago, Lowanda's father is rescued by an unlikely hero. It takes Mr. Smith a while to acknowledge that he got mugged by his own people and that a complete stranger helped him.

Lowanda's mother prevents Lowanda from telling her father about her new white boyfriend, but why?

After years of hatred, can their hearts change?

Eventually the two fathers meet, and go toe to toe.

What influences on a person's life make him want to hate to such a degree? Can the person change? Is it a matter of choices that he must make to change? Is racism taught or caught?
