The Rough Riders

The Rough Riders is the name bestowed on the 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry, raised for the Spanish-American War and commanded by Theodore Roosevelt, a man who had pushed for American involvement in Cuban independence. Under his leadership, the Rough Riders became famous for dual charges up Kettle Hill and San Juan Hill on July 1, 1898.
