To Touch the Face of God

The title of this book is from a beautiful poem written by an aviator of long ago, John Gillespie Magee. He was an American who had enlisted into the Royal Canadian Air Force, fought in the Battle of Britain then was killed in an accident. He was only 19 years old when he died. I can identify with his passion. I was even younger than he when I first experienced the thrill of flying.
I wrote this book for myself, before time age completely robs me of the memories. This is really an anthology of stories of when I was 17 and 18 years of age, in that twilight zone of no longer a boy, and not quite a man. It’s about working with and around men who became models of my adult life.
These are stories of wonder, adventure, humor and tragedy, and are to the best of my memory, true.
