Dangerous Crossing

Albuquerque Private Investigator Brady Andrews is called upon by one of the city’s elite to investigate the death of her husband, former US Senator Terrance Holt from Oklahoma.
The year is 1967 and Marjorie Holt has decided to find the reason for her husbands murder in 1963. She had delayed this decision because, at the time, a possible connection to the assassination of President Kennedy caused concern for her and her young daughter’s safety.
Brady and his loyal assistant, Sherry Gonzales, quickly become entangled in a strange case of politics, kidnapping and murder, a case that reaches back four years to that tragic day of Friday, 22 November 1963.
Danger abounds as the two sleuths struggle against efforts by murderous conspirators bent on halting the investigation by any means. Their inquiries suggest that an FBI agent, Nick Price, located in Phoenix. Is masterminding the activities against them. The agent’s name also appears in reports from Hopewell, Virginia concerning activities surrounding the 1963 slaying of Senator Holt. Their efforts become so intense and demanding that a young lady, Margaret Temple, is hired to relieve the workload. A trained secretary, she quickly takes over the day-to-day office duties while learning the unusual techniques of the private eye business.
The name George Hanby also surfaces on a 1963 wanted poster regarding security violations at Camp David. With help from a close friend in the US Border Patrol, and also from a former client and car dealer in Clovis, New Mexico, George was traced through El Paso, Texas, to the border with Mexico. Break-ins at the office, attempts on their lives and kidnapping take toll on the two investigators while they struggle to avoid crossing the thin line between law enforcement and the truth. Is Agent Price involved in the security breach at Camp David? Does that security breach connect him with George Hanby and to the death of Senator Holt? Are the two somehow involved with the assassination of the President?
Due to Mrs. Holt’s status in the Albuquerque community, the activities of Brady and Sherry attract the attention of the news media, and their new secretary is left to face the reporters. Sherry is kidnapped and the border with Mexico becomes another line to cross. Skillful efforts from others help Brady and his soon-to-be bride escape the dangerous crossing.
Their problems continue, initiated by a high level lobbyist, as Brady and Sherry visit the nations capitol to help close the government’s long standing case involving security at Camp David and the murder of Oklahoma senator Holt. A trip they envisioned would include a leisurely and well-deserved second honeymoon rather than another attempt on their lives. Nevertheless, Brady and Sherry struggle through to a successful conclusion of their case that attracts a new high-level client and a new case that will take them on further adventures.
