The magic of fairy-tale France is all but gone and a steam-powered Napoleon rules with an iron fist. His armies wage perpetual war across the face of Europe while his science soars out of control. He is the ensorcelled duke of the province “Jardin de Chardon” and the ever shifting curse of his body is second only to his beastly nature. He is powerful both in form and influence and he gathers the last remaining forces of magic to plot a desperate rebellion against science and the hated emperor Napoleon.
Meanwhile a stranger arrives in the nearby town of Eclat. He is an inventor of sorts, recently from the Emperors own court and with him comes his beautiful and mysterious daughter: Belle.
Their tale unfolds amidst the roar of cannon, the boasts of braggarts and the terrors of magic. It is a simple tale, one part beautiful, and two parts beastly.
