A sexual awakening based on an unexpected and blurry one night stand, the realization that her heart has been broken repeatedly, Sophie’s slap in the face over her failed attempts at love makes her try even more desperately to find a man that will accept her for the way she is. Will Sophie ever meet her match?
The novel is based on the chaotic lives of six single women and their daily adventures in the challenges that they face when it comes to love and the ways they cope with their obstacles together. Entitled Staring At The Middle Finger, the novel is entirely written from the point of view of the main character (Sophie) along with insights from the other characters accounts using stingingly blunt dialogue, interlocked with humor, shocking revelations, and heartache. From the beginning, the reader is introduced to six very different women with very different backgrounds, experiences and attitudes; such as Billie, who must cope with her obsessive compulsive disorder and is enslaved in her self destruction. Melania, is the glamorous model who hides her insatiable drug habit and is observed as nothing more than an object of desire by the men she meets; Lexi, the heiress of millions, yet who deprives herself of food and tests her life to its limit because of her poisoned self-conception; Sophie, has all the qualities a man could find in a wife, a woman could find in a friend, and someone in despair could find in a counselor, but the one thing she cannot find is a man to love; Grace, is naïve enough to believe that her life will play out in a fairytale-like way; Jardena, a single mother who keeps finding love in all the wrong places only to discover a man’s betrayal. And somewhere in the middle of the story, we meet Anastasia who is a bonafide scam artist that’s always in trouble with the law. The book is a timely expose of real life scenarios that women endure when faced with the challenge of facing the world as a single woman trying to find complete happiness.
