Country Kids & Critters

Pigs, chickens, cows, workhorses, cats, dogs, fish and frogs, even an occasional skunk or a fox were all part of this author’s childhood. She lived with her family in little home built by her father in the shadow of her grandfather’s small dairy farm, surrounded by aunts and uncles, cousins and grandparents. This is the third in a series of little books describing life as it was for children growing up in rural Rutland Town, Vermont in the 1940s. Country kids and critters just naturally went together. Touching and humorous anecdotes about the various animals that enriched her life are interspersed with tales of chores and a few tugs at the heartstrings.
