An Assertion of Right

What is a right? Where do rights come from, if they come from anywhere? Are rights a legal fabrication or just acquiescence by others to do what we want established by society or tradition? These are not philosophical questions but political questions. How and by whom those questions are being answered will fundamentally change our government and our society.
