The Purple Rose Murders

Every once in a while I spend a little time visiting sleazy bars and sordid night clubs during the early hours of the morning. It gives me the opportunity to hobnob with some of the ‘low-life’ in our society; it also gives me a chance to meet some very fascinating people, whose personalities I use in some of my stories. ’.

Be that as it may, when the patrons in those joints hear that I’m a writer, they not only provide me with some of the most exciting crime stories that I’ve ever heard, which they claim they were personally involved in, but I also hear about some of their so-called friends who are notorious gangsters, which also gives me an opportunity to study the character and personality of the individuals that are telling me those yarns.

Why do they confide in me? I honestly don’t know, however, I believe they hope I’ll find them interesting and write a story about them. Also, when visiting those foul places I sometimes get lucky and I get to hear stories about a notorious gangster’s private life, which often borders on the bizarre.

Although some of the stories I hear are often hard to believe, I occasionally learn afterwards that they’re true.

Therefore, I feel that by visiting those pitiful places and by conversing with the woeful people that I meet there, I feel keeps the crime stories that I write, honest.
