This is my story. You don’t know me, I am not famous and I probably never will be. I’m just your neighbor, sitting in my lawn chair in the front yard with a cold beer while the tornado sirens are going off. What I did remember to do was live every minute. That part I got right and have no regrets. The pain, blood, tears and laughter were all mine. And they were all real. The scars on my body and the wrinkles on my face are a road map.
Allow me to take you to the black water swamps in Florida and to the mountains of Colorado.
Walk with me as I tell you about snakes, alligators, beautiful mornings and quiet moments.
Hear the hum of mosquitoes and the creak of saddle leather.
Smell the sweat of men and horses and the crystal clear mountain air.
See the wind whipped snow curl off of mountain tops against a sky so blue it almost hurts to look at it.
Laugh with me if you will, as I tell you about my often less than smart decisions. Feel free to grin in anticipation as I say “I had an idea.” Allow your imagination to take over as we take this trip together.
It is my hope that by the end of this book you will know me and that you, the reader, will be able to see the humor that can result from good and bad experiences alike. The ability to laugh at myself has made writing this book a great deal of fun.
