The Gift of the Magi

"The Gift of the Magi," along with Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," are two of the most frequently read short stories of the Christmas season. While, "A Christmas Carol," describes the conversion of a stingy old man at Christmas time, "The Gift of the Magi" is based pm a desparately poor married couple who are so deeply in love that they decide to give up their most valuable possessions in order to buy each other the "perfect" gift for Christmas. Both are in for a big surprise, but the reader is left with an inspiring lesson on what Christmas is really all about.
