After AJ Redman attends a King Crimson concert and hearing their "21st Century Schizoid Man," this young and handsome engineer decides to make a leap of faith to pursue his passions by becoming an aspiring screenwriter after an idea for a new supernatural screenplay idea changes him forever.
He moves from Los Angeles to Seattle in order to scout locations for his screenplay. After an idyllic period of exploration and reinvention, his reality soon comes crashing home when he hits rock bottom in more ways than one. That causes him to come back to LA so he can try to sell the script.
Since desperate men do desperate things, his tale of transformation takes a devious detour into the psychiatric ward once his money runs out and people get tired of a homeless man sleeping on their doorstep.
There, AJ must defend his sanity against psychiatric doctors who tend to believe otherwise.
