The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

Set in late 19th century England, Dorian Gray is a handsome young man eager to retain his looks and engage in every sort of vice imaginable. After commissioning a portrait of himself, he whimsically suggests that he'd sell his soul to ensure the painting would age instead of himself. Gray soon finds his macabre wish has been granted, and each sin, each vice adds a new level of horror to the painting, which he comes understand is a reflection of his very soul.
