Linda DiStefano, a Canadian attorney in her mid 30s, is employed by Enrique Perez-Krieger, a wealthy Chilean businessman. His son has been arrested for rape on Grand Cayman Island. The son claims innocence. Linda employs her friend, Murdock McCabe, to find the truth. He is station chief for Veritus Investigations International at Portland, Oregon. Murdock suspects a set-up. The harder he digs, the more elusive truth becomes. Rape advances to murder. Enrique finds himself accused. As the mystery deepens, so does the liaison between Linda and Murdock.
The action sweeps across three continents. Linda is kidnapped in Honduras and faces sexual slavery. Jack, an older man who is an American covert agent of uncertain pedigree, intervenes. Linda is thrust into bed with him (not unwillingly) and a romantic triangle begins. A second interlocking triangle emerges when Grace, an attractive Veritus investigator, falls in love with Murdock.
When the truth begins to percolate, the moral fiber of each is strained. All are sucked into a whirlwind of sex, secrecy, terror, and murder by a vicious political/criminal syndicate. It claims to be controlled by a woman from a parallel universe with bizarre powers. Numerous people are stirred into the action. It becomes difficult to tell friend from enemy. Finally each must decide for him or herself.
