When the Nazis in Austria began their campaign to unify the country with Germany, Hermann Gurman, a Viennese Financier and the scion of a banking family that was nearly as strong and famous as the Rothschilds, took serious notice of it. As a result, he thoroughly investigated the political conditions in Europe and Palestine and decided to emigrate to the latter. He and his family settled in the budding new city of Tel Aviv, near the Biblical port of Jaffa where unlike everywhere else everyone was Jewish.
During the next seventy years the Gurs, as they were now called, thrived as their family grew in size and stature in their adopted country. Most of them, men and women alike, served in the Israel defence forces as life-long careers once Israel gained its independence.
The story follows the Gur family through their meaningful involvement in all the trials and tribulations of the State of Israel that eventually led to the restoration of King David's old empire, the rebuilding of a new Holy Temple, and acquiring a permanent peace with all its neighbors.
