Goldwater Institute Amicus Brief-Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission

The U.S. Supreme Court is about to hear a third challenge to the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act, which bans certain types of political speech. Citizens United had planned to distribute a film critical of Hillary Clinton in the 2008 election, but the movie was not allowed to be released because it was during a blackout period in which certain types of political speech are banned before an election. The Goldwater Institute believes people should hear all arguments at all times during an election. The free flow of ideas is esential to a well-informed electorate. That is why the Goldwater Institute has filed an amicus brief in support of Citizens United in Citizens United v Federal Election Commission.
