In just three years, a variant of H5N1 wipes out most of the world’s population. Starvation, illness, suicide, and murder wipe out half of the rest. Survivors band together for mutual protection and aid.

In the years following the "Long Death," technology grinds to a halt. Yet there are those who survive and even thrive because of skills developed and honed in the "Before Times" through their love and dedication to the Renaissance Faires of years past. From all over Northern California, Faire Folk are returning to the original Faire site in Black Point Forest to celebrate their survival.

But even in a world decimated by death and sorrow, there are those who would destroy the last remnants of song and dance, and kill any who dared to celebrate Life.
