The Marriage of William Ashe

Mrs. Humphrey Ward based this novel on the lives of statesman William Lamb Melbourne and his eccentric wife Lady Caroline Lamb. William Ashe is also an upper-class statesman who falls in love with Kitty Bristol, who comes from an unpromising background and is wildly impetuous.
