The old brown stained building was originally built as a two story house in Portageville, Missouri. Fat Jack purchased the old house from the estate of Mrs. Virginia Green, who lived there her entire life. It was auctioned off on the county court house steps. Jack was the only bidder there.

A kitchen fire, in the twenties, resulted in the building being restored as a one story house, which was eventually changed into a large bar.
The two front windows are small, with beer lights behind them. The purpose was to keep any nosey wife or any young juvenile delinquent from peeping into the bar.

Inside, the bar is always dark and dimly lit. The 12 foot ceiling supports three ceiling fans that always turn real slow, cigarette butts and peanut hulls pepper the floor. Along the south wall extends an old wooden bar, which has the largest mirror in the state. The bar stools usually holds up a dozen middle aged men discussing stories of hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and football.

Small, two-man tables line the north wall, across from the bar. Each little table has a coffee can containing a large candle. The flickering lights from these candles give the bar an eerie, romantic atmosphere.
In the rear of the building, you’ll find the mechanical bull, a pool table, and the restrooms. The bull only comes to life on Friday and Saturday evenings. The pool table is active most all of the time. The restrooms are first class, very neat, clean, and colorful. Anyone found intentionally messing up the restroom will have one of Fat Jack’s #10 cowboy boots jammed up their ass. The bum will also be barred from coming back into the bar.

The bar’s owner and bartender is Fat Jack.
Jack is 30 years old, has a pot gut, and his head is shaved. He has a lot of tattoos but certainly not any nose rings. He always has a short, stubby cigar sticking out of one side of his mouth. Sometimes, Jack wears a tee-shirt with a hole in it around the belly area. He likes that shirt. It’s an old Harley-Davidson shirt that he got in California. The 1970’s era Harley-Davidson motorcycle parked out front is his. You can look but can’t touch. No, it’s not for sale. No, you can’t just sit on it.
A decade of hard living, smoking, drinking, and chasing whores, resulted in Jack having four DWI’s and a heart attack. Shortly before he had to turn himself in to begin a 6 month stretch in a Missouri State Prison for the DWI’s, Jack suffered a heart attack. It wasn’t a ‘widow maker’ attack, but it sure scared the hell out of him. The prison sentence really got his attention on drinking and driving. Now, Jack wouldn’t touch a drop of alcohol for anything. He’s been completely dry for 13 months and 27 days. Jack also stopped smoking on his last birthday.
Jack’s best friend is John Henry, who will soon retire from 12 years in the military.
