It was love at first sight, so they say. Anna married the tall, dark, handsome Marine and enjoyed a very loving relationship. Marine pay not being all that much required them to postpone their honey moon. At the end of his hitch, Sgt. Martin signed up with a security firm for a salary at least four times his earnings in the Marines so they were taking their delayed honeymoon in Orlando with their not-quite-two year-old daughter. As the three were walking down the street, a cop challenged Sgt. Martin to show I.D. to prove he wasn’t an ‘illegal Mex’. As the Sergeant reached for his wallet the cop shot – and killed – him.
Anna was a stay-at-home mom. Though she had an excellent credit rating prior to her marriage, now she no longer existed. Everything was in her husband’s name. How does a young, unemployed female with a young child survive against these odds?
