Living It—A Baseball Memoir

Baseball is the only sport Tom wanted to play. The future looked promising. For a seventeen year-old, pitching semi-pro ball in Medford, Oregon was a dream come true. On his first start he went nine innings and struck out twenty-one. He was on his way. The New York Yankees signed him to a minor league contract and then his world caved in. His arm went bad. Tom secured a high school teaching and baseball coaching job. His love of baseball extended to his son and to his grandson. Both had a dream, playing Major League ball. Tom did not make it. His son did not make it. They both hope Tom's grandson would make it. Many scouts said he would be drafted in June. The entire family is waiting.
