"During the desperate times of the Depression era, two determined women, Lizzie Keith and Maggie Johnson, raise four children without the benefit of husbands and grapple with issues common to every woman: perseverance, acceptance, resourcefulness and resilience.
Lizzie believes that God had promised her a son, whom she will mold into a preacher. She pursues this goal at all costs to her children's welfare.
