War rages in Europe over a tiny patch of land called Silesia, draining nations’ treasuries and resilience. The much bigger prize across the sea is ignored by the vainglorious monarchs: The land called the New World. English Minister Pitt being the exception to European thinking sends a formidable attack force to drive the French from New France and claim the continent for England. The capable Jeffery Amherst and valiant James Wolfe conquer Louisbourg, the French prized seaport, in preparation to take Quebec, New France’s capital. The heretofore unbeatable French General Louis Montcalm, a master strategist, and his undermanned forces dug in on the Saint Lawrence River must fall before the conquest is complete. The English and the French soon discover there is a third force more deadly than their combined armies; a force who has a more venerable and vested interest in the New World. He is Atotarho, the Most Fearsome Spirit indigenous people fear, a Deity with a most unusual curiosity and appetite.
