The pub was smoky, loud and boisterous when we arrived. Eric made
introductions and ordered drinks. I was unaccustomed to a man ordering for
me, how would he know what I wanted? Surprisingly the drink that was
delivered was delicious. When I finally needed to attend the ladies room,
Eric rose from his chair as well. He wasn’t leaving my side for any reason.
Curious I thought that he is following me but as I exited the bathroom he was
still leaning against the far wall waiting on me. I hadn’t noticed any of
the other men following women to the bathroom, this was odd. “Eric you don’t
have to come with me to the bathroom you know?”
He took a moment to absorb my sentence and then grabbed my hands. Turning me
around so that my back was against the wall he leaned forward. With a
whisper he said, “If I do not these men will steal you from me in an instant.
Do you not have a mirror in your flat?”
Dark blue eyes met mine in a deep embrace. His face leaned to mine, lips
touching mine carefully as though he was afraid to break me. A sizzle of
friction from his tender touch sent me reeling. But his lips went to my ear,
nuzzling it again he whispered, “I would like to leave this pub now. Will
you come home with me?”
The pulsations his voice and touch caused me were saying absolutely yes but
my mind was confusing the issue. If I went home with him he would think that
I am a slut, perhaps he does this with all the new women at the office? I
hadn’t heard such rumors though and the office was full of gossipers. As a
matter of fact, some of the women commented on his rugged good looks and made
gestures when he walked past, but not one of them ever mentioned having been
with him. Their comments led me to believe that he was out of bounds. On
Monday I’d remember to ask them. For now my dilemma was still on the table.
He kept his lips close to my ear and again spoke so softly that I almost
couldn’t hear, “Only for a drink of course!”
