Love Under Fire tells the story of Lt. Adam Galesworth, a young Union officer who goes behind the Confederate lines to gather information and meets Miss Willifred Hardy, a fiery Southern belle with a perchant for smuggling supplies for the Rebels.
Love-at-first-sight wars with patriotism as these two political enemies face gunfire, artillery and angry fiances in an effort to remain true to their ideals and protect each other at the same time. This touching love story culminates in a horrendous battle as Lt. Galesworth fulfills his promise to protect the Hardy plantation house "..to the last man." Particularly excellent is the description of the heroic Union battle to hold ground until reinforcements arrive.
A word about the author: Randall Parrish: Parrish was involved as a young man in the early 1900's crossing the American Plains with a cattle party.
He was an Attorney and a Newspaper man. In his later life he was ordained into the Congregational Church as a minister and was at one time Chairman of a Missionary Board!
You can be assured that his works...mostly set in the Early West are wholesome and great wholesome reading.
