He was pretty much a bigot and instilled some of his beliefs in "Still Jim".
Big Jim wanted better for his son. His mother put his life before anyones and wanted him to live life to it's fullest. At 14 Jim is forced to leave for New York due to personal tragedy. He meets George "Sara" and they become great friends his later teen years are spend idolizing "Sara" a greek aristocrat. Penelope comes to live with him and he falls in love with her in a very quiet way. She is 4 years younger than him and prefers "Sara" to Jim this takes on twists and turns along the way. Jim goes on to make a name for himself leaving New York going on to build bridges out West.
