Beatrix Potter self-published the book in 1901 before a publisher, Frederick Warne & Co., took over in 1902. The book was written for the son of Ms. Potter's governess. The book follows Peter Rabbit and his adventures in Mr. McGregor's garden.The book has been translated in more than 35 languages and is one of the most successful best-selling books of all-time. Peter Rabbit lost his father and is living with his mother and sisters. He loses his clothes in the garden.
