Uninspired and Over-Disciplined: Preventing the School-to-Prison Pipeline with Psychology

Each year, nearly 1/3 of America's high school students drop out, and more than 3% of America's youth are expelled. Studies have shown that those who drop out or are expelled end up becoming a disproportionate amount of the prison population. Despite these important problems, they only get worse, and schools continue to use failed policies.

In this short book, readers will discover the impact that dropping out of school or being expelled has on a person throughout his or her life, and the ways in which psychology is being utilized to try to reduce the number of American youth leaving school early. This book look at successful and unsuccessful examples while reaching a conclusion as to what kind of policies are likely to successfully improve the percentage of kids that stay in school.
